Ashley Horton

Hello Happy from Ashley

I have to admit, that I have a very hard time throwing away useable scraps.  If you are working with a Kit, it’s a good idea to keep those scraps stored with your Kit and next time you do a layout, find fun ways to use them on your page.  For this layout, I had several strips of paper that were left over from cutting some of the papers for my other pages.  I arranged the different strips under my photo and the text banner piece to create my page design.  This gave me a great base design, and then I used some of the stickers and embellishments from the Kit to finish my layout.

I knew I couldn’t create with this Kit, without doing a Disney layout, using the fun Say Cheese papers and sticker sheet from Simple Stories.  The sticker sheet included in the Kit, gives you great options for embellishing your pages.  I thought it would be fun to mix in a lot of the stickers in my page design and I added pop dots under several of them for some dimension.  I also used the Hot Diggity Studio Calico spray mist with a Chevron mask, that I had in my stash.  Once the mist was dry, I outlined the shapes with a fine point Black Sharpie for added definition.

ASHLEY HORTON

Ashley

My name is Ashley Horton and I live in the Southern US, with my husband Tyler and our three kids ages 7, 5, and 4.  I’ve been Scrapbooking for over 7 years, and I love documenting the antics of my children on my layouts.  I have had the privilege of serving on several Design Teams over the years.  I have been published in Creating Keepsakes magazine, Life.Paper.Scrapbook Magazine, and PaperHaus Magazine.  I describe my style, as Cutesy Eclectic and I enjoy using a mix of products and techniques on my layouts.  Other than Scrapbooking, I enjoy cooking, reading, spending time with family, and watching movies with my hubby.

I am beyond excited to have Ahsley showcasing the November kit! She is such an inspiration, and she is part of DT’s for a few of my favourite companies 🙂

DON’T FORGET THAT WE HAVE A NEW GDT CALL OUT AT THE MOMENT!!

I love the mix of Pink Paislee and Simple Stories in the Kit.  And with so many fun pieces in the Pink Paislee embellishment pack, I knew I wanted to add a lot of layers to my page.  I layered the papers behind my two photos and use some of the paper pieces and vellum pieces.  I also added some star pieces to my layout and thought it would be cute to dot the “I”‘s in my title, with one of the stars.
