March kit 2013

Last share from Michelle

Big thanks to Michelle Whorwood for all the inspiration you have given us with the March Kit “Snippets of Happiness”.

Here is Michelle’s last share with the kit, and this is what she has to say about it:

This is the last layout I have to share with you with the March CMK Kit.

Thank you Annelie for the lovely opportunity to showcase this fabulous kit.  I have really loved working with March kit.  Mostly, because the colours have been so versatile for both masculine and feminine layouts which is perfect for me because I have both girls and boys to scrap about.   I also have loved getting my hands on some papers from a couple of different manufacturers and of course there is lots of cool embellishments to be had in the kit as well.

As this is the last layout with the kit it was all about layering smaller pieces of patterned paper to create a little collage behind my photo.  A couple of strips of washi on a textured background.  I added the last of the cute wood veneer arrows to the right-hand edge of my photo (there seemed to be a never ending supply of these in the kit) to create balance with the heavy chipboard title on the left.  I also slipped in another instax frame on top of a wee wax bag from my stash which holds my journalling.  Added twine for more texture to finish.

Thanks again Annelie for having me on board and I hope that I have been able to give you some ideas  on how to use up your March kit or perhaps encouraged you to sign up for a Crazy Monday Kit yourself.

Cheers
Michelle

Here

I really love the geo-tag trend that is happening at the moment, and used it for my title on this LO, but also cut out the colourful geo-tag from one of the Studio Calico papers. Arrows are also my fav and had to add a few of those, together with some veneers and other little bits! Hope you like!

More inspiration from Michelle Whorwood

Aren’t these little polaroid frames so cute!!  I had lots of fun using them on this layout.  They are a great addition to the kit, they go a long way with 15 in the kit in 4 different colours too.  On this layout I have used two of them to include two smaller photos.  I decided that even though the colours of the frames were great, I wanted a more neutral base so I reversed one of them so I had a white frame.  You could easily do this with all of the frames in the kit.  Again, I have used the same patterned paper that I have used on my first layout I shared with you to create fun little titles and to include the date on this layout.  Lastly,I just love using shipping tags to include some journalling on my pages.  Here I have  included some hidden journalling on the shipping tag that is just slotted behind the patterned paper finished with some of the cute twine!

Hopefully I have inspired you to get out your March kit and get creating!

Always remember this

For the LO below I used a sketch from the very talented Kristine Davidson. But not just “any sketch”. It’s a sketch that is part of her new sketchbook, which is released VERY SOON.

I am so excited and honoured to be featured with this LO, using the March kit “Snippets of Happiness”, in this fantastic publication.

In my private blog  you will find an offer to buy this book to a discounted price, later this week. Don’t miss out on that opportunity!

Please welcome our March GDT

MICHELLE WHORWOOD

Hi, my name is Michelle Whorwood and I’m super excited about being the GDT for the month of March for CMK.  I have been scrapbooking since my eldest child was about 2, so for about 7 years now!!  I am a SAHM to three gorgeous kids Liam who is almost 9, Taylor Grace who is 2 and Aimee Rose who almost 11 months.   I’m married to a super supportive lovely man (Gary) and we also live with our bouncy pooch – Indy (the retrospoodle) in  Albany on the North Shore of Auckland.

Scrapbooking is my creative outlet, my indulgent me time where I get to document the stories (the good and the bad) of my family as well as letting me in enjoy one of my other favourite past times – shopping!  You could describe my scrapbook style as a bit eclectic and definitely fun.  I love using colour – taking inspiration from my photos, the stories and from the products themselves.  You will find lots of layering and little details on my layouts.  I also love trying to find new ways to use embellishments and enjoy pushing my style in definitely directions.

I have been super lucky to have been on several design teams over the last few years including the online store Scrappin’ Patch.  I am currently designing for D-lish Scraps and for the challenge blog: Challenge Me Happy.  I have also had layouts featured on the Prima Blog, the Color Room, Sketchy Thursdays and Kraft It Up.

I have been receiving kits from CMK over the last few months and I can safely say I have loved working with each of them, the March kit is definitely no exception!  I can’t wait to share my layouts with you this month!

Happy Scrapping!

It’s very exciting to have Michelle designing for us this month! Here is her first LO, and she has said a few words about the process!

Its the little moments

I just loved the mask in the Add on.  To create extra interest and another layer on my layout, I first sprayed my white card stock with Studio Calico Mist in Cameo. I wanted to ensure some of my speech bubbles were more defined than others so I sprayed more heavily in the middle of my page and then outlined a few of the speech bubbles.

I just loved the brighter colours in the kit but on this layout I wanted to complement the bright blue in my photo on Taylor’s top and I didn’t want the bright colours to detract from the photo  so I picked out more the muted tones in – greys, the sea greens and pale blues with a hint of orange and stuck to a limited colour palette.

On this layout I have used some of the words on the Studio Calico Snippets PP “Me Oh My” to create my title.  I have also changed the colour of my speech bubbles so that they matched into the colour scheme by giving them a light mist with white and then inking them.
