Trina goes out with a BANG!

Trina sent me this amazing mini album that she made with the February kit. Thank you Trina, for all your inspiration! This last project is a true treasure!

In Trina’s own words:

I have one more project to show you. And here it is.

image001

A cute little mini album made from one sheet of paper.

I’ve made a similar album before, but the pages were smaller. This is the same premise, but the pages are bigger.

Let’s take a look at how you can cut the page to create a teeny album….

image002

Ok, take a piece of 12×12″ paper and cut 4″ off one side.

Then fold the page in half (and unfold), then into quarters.

Now that your page has score marks where the pages are, you can cut along the ‘half fold’. Not all the way, but just 3/4 of the paper (as above).

image003

Now fold the paper in half again, and pull up the ‘pages’ ready to glue together.

image004

Once they are glued, you can use the piece you cut off earlier to form a cover to the album.

Wrap it around the front cover, crease along the spine and continue wrapping around the back cover. Cut off any excess. Adhere it down.

If you wish to add ribbon, ensure this is done by placing and adhering it to the mini album before the cover is put on.

Now you are ready to decorate the album.

image005

I used mine to commemorate my kids first day at school this year.

image006

There were no numbers in the alphabet packet included in the kit, so I hand cut mine. The perfect solution that allowed me to custom make them to fit the area needed.

image007

There wasn’t much I needed to say for each page, so I just kept it really simple and added something to let them know how much I care for them.

image008

I had fun using some punches and Spellbinders dies to get some cool shapes onto the pages.

image009

The ledger paper in the kit works perfectly for the theme of the album, plus gives me a spot to write if I want to add in journaling later.

image010

I wanted to keep the inside of the album relatively flat, but could embellish as much as I wanted on the cover.

image011

There is a particularly large flower in the kit, and I pulled it apart giving me a few more petals to play with, and a lovely shiny bead to place wherever I wanted.

Thanks again Annelie for having me play with the gorgeous February kit.

First look at the March kit

I’m very excited about the March kit. In fact, it’s my fav kit to date. Hmmm. I might have said that before, but it’s a REALLY cool kit and I have already managed to create a LO with it. Unheard of 🙂 I hope you enjoy this little peek, that shows you TWO brands that I don’t think you can find anywhere else in NZ at the moment.

Six

The February kit is our 6th kit, so thought it was fitting to create a LO of my daughter on her 6th birthday in September!

Again, a style I don’t feel very confident in, but my daughter is happy and that’s the main thing! The cirle is from 2Crafty, and I have covered it with my seambinding. I think it gives a great effect on the page!

“Love” from Trina McClune

Trina has created another masterpiece with the February kit “Hopelessly Devoted”. A LO in trur Trina style with loads of flowers. In Trina’s own words:

A LO about my daughters love for chickens; it’s not a traditional valentine layout, but about love all the same.

All product is from the kit (except the doily is my own) although I’ve used some dies/punches to create the extra flowers. I’ve also used some glimmermist to give some added colour of pink/blue.

I’ve also created my own flowers. This was done by hand cutting a circle, then cutting around the circle to make a spiral. Once I had a spiral of paper, I rolled it up starting at the outside until I was happy with the size of the flower. Then I glued together and adhered to my layout.

I’ve created a ton of layering to give more dimension to the layout also. From the xoxoxo sticker, to the hearts, to the ‘sweet as can be label’. A lot of the layout has been put onto foam tape to give it some height.

Three cards from Trina

Trina has made three stunning cards with the February kit “Hopelessly Devoted”. Very inspiring!! Which one is your favourite?

In Trina’s own words:

The three cards were made using two different pieces of paper in the kit (scraps from them). Using a series of different Spellbinders dies, I was able to cut out nesting shapes, then sew them together.

Prior to putting them on each card, I splodged some texture paste onto the front of the card, then sprayed some glimmermist, then added the paper embellishments.

Inside the star card is a simple sentiment: You are a star

The sentiment on the front of the baby card is my own stamp.

TRINA MCCLUNE

Trina

Hi everyone! My name is Trina. I’m a SAHM who lives in Auckland. A lot of you may know my story, but I thought I’d share it with you again. I started to scrapbook well before I realised it had a name, and when my MIL asked if I’d seen this new shop down the road, it was like I’d finally come home. As they say, the rest is history.

I’ve been scrapping ever since – approx. 9-10 years – once my twins started sleeping through the night.

I’ve found it to be not only a wonderful creative outlet for me, but also a therapeutic way to mull over ideas, and thoughts as I scrap about those I love.

I love to teach and share my ideas on how I scrapbook. I thoroughly enjoy sharing my passion for a hobby that is not only creative, but can be used as memories for years to come. I’ve just returned from a teaching tour in Indonesia and feel incredibly lucky that this hobby has given me opportunities such as this.

This year along with a friend I will be hosting a luxury scrapbooking event in Nelson, New Zealand. It will be our first one but we are totally excited about the opportunities this will present and the challenges we will overcome. We are particularly excited to bring such an event to the South Island of New Zealand where we can share our passion with like-minded scrappers!

I have three youngish children – twins Matt and Sarah who are 9, Daniel who is 6, a best friend and husband Andy, and of course my chickens. Currently too many (according to Andy), but just about right for me.

Life is full. Life is fun. Life is chaotic. Life is challenging. Life is good.

You can find out more about me and my scrapping style on my blog: www.trinamcclune.typepad.com.

Thanks so much to Annelie and Crazy Monday Kits for allowing me to use their beautiful Feb kit. I can’t wait to share more with you over the month.

Very exciting for Crazy Monday Kits to have Trina with us this month, thanks Trina!

Here is Trina’s first LO to inspire you. Enjoy!
